Mirwaiz virtually addresses mass marriage event, condemns house srrest | KNO

Srinagar, Sep 15 (KNO): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was scheduled to solemnize the Nikah ceremony of 60 orphan girls at a mass marriage event organized by the Al Noor Trust, Bemina was prevented from doing so by authorities due to his continued house arrest since September 02. Despite his absence, Mirwaiz as per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) virtually addressed the function and expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Al Noor Trust and its chairman Shabir Ahmed Rather and his team. He emphasized the need for simplicity in marriages, reminding attendees that this Nikah is an act of worship in Islam and not a commercial exercise. Mirwaiz urged people to support these endeavors and follow Islamic traditions of simplicity, avoiding wasteful show-off and extravagant displays of wealth in our marriages. He expressed his disappointment at being unable to attend the event in person, condemning the government's actions. He stated that it is unfortunate that he was prevented from participating in such an inspiring social initiative for the Muslim community—(KNO)
